Job Description
The newly formed School of Freshwater Sciences along with the School of Engineering & Applied Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) invites applicants for two faculty positions in the general field of Water Technology. One position is senior level (Associate/Full professor with tenure) and one is junior level (tenure track Assistant Professor) Starting dates are negotiable. We are searching for applicants with research interests in the development of new measurement, observation, and exploration technologies that are central to improved ecosystem management, resource sustainability, and environmental health monitoring. Of particular interest are researchers involved with: in situ sensors and nano-material sensing systems for nutrients and biological compounds; acoustic systems and micro-fluidics.

Applicants must hold a PhD at the time of appointment. Post-doctoral experience is desirable. The successful candidate is expected to conduct an active, internationally recognized, externally funded research program. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in their field of expertise, and advise graduate student thesis projects.

The College of Engineering & Applied Science consists of 82 faculty members in 6 departments--Civil Engineering and Mechanics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering, with ABET accredited programs. The College has more than 1,500 undergraduate students and over 300 graduate students, both Master’s and Doctoral. The College has a long history of industrial collaboration and research support. Research and education is integrated across four essential themes: freshwater system dynamics; human and ecosystem health; freshwater technology; and freshwater economics, policy, and management. In pursuing these multidisciplinary themes, SFS works with a wide range of partners inside and outside the university.
