Position Description
Will participate in all activities for any aspect of the software development lifecycle. This would include requirements analysis and design document reviews. Support Systems Engineering (e.g., Hardware upgrade) to ensure testability of requirements during the definition phase. Develop test plans, test procedures, and conduct peer reviews of work products. Conduct Pre-SWIT, SWIT, SIT, and SyAT for Quality engineering. Execute test procedures formally for customer witnesses. Track and report defects found during all activity, identify all relevant conditions to ensure repeatability. Coordinate and conduct testing activities at customer facilities.
Required Skills
2 years of experience in software design, development, and testing with a solid background in meteorology. Software development skills in the following areas: Basic knowledge of Java, C, C++, Python, UNIX shell scripts, Vi Editor, PostgreSQL & PGAdmin. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Basic knowledge of GRIB and GRIB2, NetCDF, HDF5 & XML a plus. Knowledge of National Weather Service operations, products, and services is desirable.
Education
BS in Meteorology, Computer Science, related discipline, or equivalent.
