June 2006 CMS/22 (Scheduling and Agency Officer) Nigeria LNG
Worked as part of a team which amongst other duties, ensured proper coordination of the activities of the Shipping Operations (Scheduling and Agency) unit of the CMS department of NLNG regarding charter party agreements, agency agreements, invoices, tugboat charges, generating voyage instructions, monthly reports concerning shipping delays due to buyers and the cost implications, statistics of vessel delay causes, agent performance at loading and discharge ports and the CMS shipping risk register. Ensuring that modifications to the existing systems were identified approved and executed in accordance with company procedures and good practice. Developed project plans that integrated the asset planning process to meet the company's business objectives and effectively communicate facilities engineering activities both onshore and offshore. Activities also included data extraction, collation, interpretation and presentation.
2006-2009 Third Engineer, Anglo Eastern Ship Management Ltd
On regular watch and carried out maintenance to Hyundai/Mitsubishi steam turbine, dual (oil and gas) fired Mitsubishi type Boilers, Instrumentation and Control Equipments. Monitoring of LNG cargo tank pressures and controlling Boil-off gas.
In-charge of fully automated engine room watch. Also taking part in 4 our watch. Maintenance and operation of steam turbine and diesel electrical generation plants. Maintenance and operation of instrumentation and control equipment. Monitoring of LNG tank pressures including control of boil-off gas. Ensuring full compliance of Shell's Health, Safety and Environmental Policy amongst all shipboard staff. Carrying out occupational health and safety inspections of each accessible part of the ship at least every 3 months. Improving safety awareness of the ship's complement. In charge of operation and maintenance of all deck and cargo related machinery while liaising with the Chief Officer during loading, discharging, conditioning of cargo, cargo change operations. Responsible for the maintenance, operation and upkeep of all parts of the cargo compressor room and the proper performance of maintenance in accordance with the decision of the maintenance team and the provisions of the integrated work plan; Technical supervision of cargo machinists and other hands.
Organization and execution of all cargo machinery watch keeping and machinery routines.
Direct the maintenance and repair of Cargo Compressors, Cargo pumps, I.G. Generator plant, Gas free blowers and other related ancillary equipment. Also responsible for cooling water analysis and chemical treatment of related cooling water system.
Responsible for update of machinery history records, maintenance plans, inventories, and preparing timely requisitions for spare parts for above work.
Safely testing and performing maintenance of ESD and gas detection alarms, testing and calibration of cargo system alarms and fixed gas detector.
Actively involved in training exercises and drills for development of crew to ensure that all personnel were familiar with procedures for performing emergency operations safely. Aside from technical aspects of the job, was also involved in general operations and shipboard management, report writing, ensuring conformance with legal & statutory requirements, quality management ISO 9000, Environmental Management ISO 4001.
Special achievement is being the Cargo Engineer on the first LNG carrier to enter in to a dry dock with partially inerted cargo tanks.
